Nate Cira - Principal Investigator
Nate completed undergraduate majors in biomedical engineering, biology, biochemistry, microbiology, and molecular biology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2011. He received his masters in 2013 and his PhD in 2017 from Stanford University where he was a member of the Quake lab. He has worked on projects involving microbiology, microfluidic devices, community ecology, capillarity and wetting, and network theory. He was an Evans Scholar, NSF GRFP Recipient, and a Siebel Scholar. He started the Cira lab as a Rowland Fellow at the Rowland Institute in late 2017.
Shayandev Sinha - Postdoc
Shayandev joined the lab in July 2018 and works on soft matter projects at the intersection of theory and application. He has also developed an interest in understanding moving connected systems. Shayandev's undergraduate and master's studies were at IIT Kanpur, and he completed his PhD in Mechanical Engineering at The University of Maryland in the group of Siddhartha Das in 2018.
Nkazi Nchinda - Undergraduate researcher
Nkazi is a Harvard undergraduate majoring in biomedical engineering. He is developing methods and using them to search for microbes belonging to undiscovered taxa.
Dieter Baumgartner - Visiting masters student
Dieter is completing a year of research in the lab. His project involves understanding surface tension driven flows in multi-component droplets. He joins from ETH Zurich where he completed his undergraduate studies.
